Iowa Football Fans Have Created Best New Gameday Tradition

This is the first football season in Iowa City since the construction of the new 12-story Children’s Hospital was completed. It is located across the street from the university football stadium, and a person on the top floor can see directly into the stadium.

One Iowa fan’s idea for a new gameday tradition gained momentum in social media and is already in action through two home games.

At the end of the first quarter, all of the fans and Iowa players look up to the 12th floor of the hospital and wave to the children and families watching from up above.

Adam Kramer went to the 12th floor for last Saturday’s game to see what the experience is like for the children, families, and hospital staff on the other side.

It’s a fantastic piece.
