Users tend to be more unhappy with the phone apps that they use for the longest time each day. Of the top 8 apps that left users feeling unhappy, users spent at least 45 minutes per day on the app. Meanwhile, of the top 10 apps that left users feeling content, daily usage was never more than 20 minutes.
This study also measured how happy and unhappy users compared on daily usage of a single app. The simple rule for being more content with your app and phone usage is to cut your time spent on the app by two-thirds. If you spend 60 minutes a day on Facebook, cut it to 20. If you spend 45 minutes a day on YouTube, cut it to 15.
